Legal & Editorial Policy for The Vault Investigates
Last updated: January 2026
Who we are
The Vault Investigates is an independent investigative journalism project and newsletter focused on how poverty is turned into profit in the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines. All publishing is done by an individual writer and small research collaborators, not by a company or law firm.

It is not legal, financial, medical, or professional advice, and should not be treated as such. Accuracy and corrections
We aim to publish accurate, well‑sourced information and to correct mistakes when they occur. However, all information is provided “as is,” without any guarantees as to completeness, timeliness, or accuracy. Facts may change as new documents or testimony emerge. If you believe something is wrong or incomplete, you can contact us using the information in each post.
Sources, anonymity, and safety
Some of our reporting relies on confidential or anonymous sources. We do not publish identifying information about sources without their consent unless legally compelled to do so or where information is already a matter of public record. We cannot guarantee absolute security for any communication, but we make good‑faith efforts to protect sources consistent with our technical abilities and applicable law.
Defamation and right of reply
We do not knowingly publish false statements about any person or organization. Allegations are based on documents, public records, interviews, or other evidence and are presented as fairly as we can. If you believe you or your organization have been defamed or misrepresented, contact us with specific details and supporting documentation so we can review and, if appropriate, correct, clarify, or provide a right‑of‑reply.
