I was once one of them. I ran with the radicals. I fought the fight. I fed kids, built programs, opened doors. But I also tasted the poison — the power, the access, the ego. I saw how easy it was to become a “poverty pimp.” And I saw what it did to our people.

So I walked away. And now, I build.
